Peaceful Forest Taiko Drumming Performance

MADISON –  Peaceful Forest, led by world champion taiko drummer Takumi Kato and his three sons, brought their powerful and passionate drumming to Madison’s First Unitarian Society Meeting House on Dec. 17, 2025.

An audience of 65 people gathered in the Frank Lloyd Wright designed Landmark Auditorium, where the performance, rooted in a deep commitment to peace shaped by Takumi’s experience of 9/11 and his subsequent memorial concerts in Japan and the United States, reminded listeners of the power of art and music as a means of bridging cultures.

Peaceful Forest’s ongoing journey – to perform 1,000 shows in all 50 states while promoting peace and cultural understanding – invited attendees to see themselves as part of that mission, whether through supporting their work or connecting them with others around the U.S. so they can reach even more communities.
