JASWI Community Engagement Event – Frank Lloyd Wright and Japan

On July 24, Japan America Society of Wisconsin (JASWI) was honored to host a public lecture, “Frank Lloyd Wright and Japan – Traditional Japanese Culture as a Means to Modern American Architecture,” presented by Professor Kevin Nute of the University of Hawai’i. Over 70 guests joined us at the First Unitarian Society Meeting House in Madison, an iconic Wright-designed space that perfectly complimented the lecture’s theme.

Professor Nute’s talk was informative and engaging, offering insights into the intersections between Japanese cultural aesthetics and Wright’s unique architectural style. Following the main event, we welcomed guests to a JASWI reception at Pasture and Plenty, where attendees had the chance to mingle, make new connections and talk with Professor Nute in more detail.

A big thank you to everyone who attended and helped to make this a successful and enjoyable evening. We look forward to more events like this that support JASWI’s mission to strengthen US-Japan relations through business, educational and cultural exchange.
