Bōnenkai Celebration Highlights Japan–Wisconsin Ties at Asahi Brewing
WAUNAKEE, Wis. — A Bōnenkai (Year-End Gathering) was held at Asahi Brewing in Waunakee, Wisconsin on Dec. 10, bringing together 85 attendees for an evening of celebration and connection. The event marked the close of the year in the traditional Japanese spirit of reflection, gratitude, and camaraderie.
The gathering was honored by a special appearance from Deputy Consul-General Naoya Kishi of the Consulate-General of Japan in Chicago, whose presence underscored the strong ties between Japan and the Midwest business and cultural community. Special guests in attendance also included Madison Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway and Jefferson Mayor Dale Oppermann.
Throughout the evening, participants celebrated the year’s successes and ongoing collaboration among Asahi Brewing, Great Dane Japan, and the Japan America Society of Wisconsin (JASWI). The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with guests enjoying food, raffles, and lively conversation.
The Bōnenkai served not only as a year-end celebration, but also as a meaningful opportunity to strengthen relationships, share accomplishments, and look ahead to continued cooperation in the coming year.
